Cathy completed a Bachelor of Education, Canberra University in 1980. She received a Master of Visual Arts, from the ANU School of Art in 1998 and is currently a candidate for a Research Master of Arts at Monash University.
Cathy has held eleven solo exhibitions since 1998 and been included in numerous group exhibitions. Her work has been selected as a finalist in numerous Australian photography prizes including the Bowness Prize, Monash in 2007 and the Josephine Ulrick Photography Prize in 2005, 2006 and 2007 when she was a runner up. This year her work was included as a finalist in the PhoenixPrize for work with a spiritual theme and has been selected for inclusion in the 2009 Togart Prize for Contemporary Art in the Northern Territory. Her work was also included in the exhibition New Australiana that toured Australia for four years with the Australian Centre for Photography from 2000-2005.
Cathy has been the recipient of many grants and awards, including the Hill End Residency 2001 and 2009; artsACT Project Funding Grant 2003 and 2008; and an Australia Council, Visual Arts Craft Board New Work Grant in 2005. Her work is included in numerous collections including the Albury Regional Gallery, Gold Coast City Art Gallery, the Tweed River Gallery and the Bathurst Regional Gallery.
