Bruce Tunks and Susan Barnett.
In Along Parallel Lines, Bruce Tunks and Susan Barnett comment on the energy, regenerative power and natural beauty of desert landscapes. The works acknowledge the trace of human presence and the critical and fragile balance of nature and land use. These are very personal interpretations of ones experience, triggering memories and sensory perceptions.
Having worked together as health professionals many years ago, Bruce Tunks and Susan Barnett went their separate ways - as it turns out, pursuing tertiary art studies and art practices. On reflection, both artists indulged a love of the landscape and the natural environment - particularly the arid regions. Comparisons of the approach to art-making and response to the subject matter revealed considerable correspondence in their art development. This exhibition is a celebration of two professional trajectories.
