Studio Applications

Use the below button to access the online ANCA studio application form. Please note that although application are accepted at any time, successful applications are placed on a waiting list and offered a tenancy when studios become available.
Once we receive your application it will be reviewed by ANCA and you will contacted to arrange a formal site visit and an interview. Each applicant is considered in light of the selection criteria outlined in the online form.
Successful applicants are then placed on a studio waiting list and offered a studio once they become available considering their preferences (i.e. location, studio size and share arrangements).
Studio Sizes & Rent
Tenants pay a monthly fee to rent an ANCA studio, which is subsidised by contributions from tenants to the upkeep of shared facilities (i.e. gardening, kitchen cleaning etc.). The following are the 2020 studio sizes and rental prices per month for each studio location:
Dickson studios: 32m2, $275; 46m2, $385; 48m2, $400.
Mitchell studios: 60m2, $496; 80m2, $645; 100m2, $835.
There is space on the online form to nominate a desired specific studio location and size. Alternatively, applicants can nominate to be offered the first available studio at any size or either location.
Studio Sharing
ANCA studios can be leased to a single tenant or in a share arrangement. There is space on the online form to nominate whether applicants would like to solely occupy a studio or work in a shared space. ANCA will work with interested applicants to create a studio sharing arrangement that considers each individual’s needs and space requirements.
N.B. If you already know the people you would like to share with, please submit a joint application.
Joint Applications
ANCA welcomes joint studio applications by collectives and groups wanting to share a studio space. A separate form should be completed and submitted for each individual. Space is provided on the online form to indicate if an individual’s submission is part of a joint application.
Studio lease terms
Studio lease terms are flexible considering the needs to applicants. For example, you could apply for a 3 month lease while you are working on a project or a 3 year lease for everyday studio use. There is space on the online form to nominate to how long you would like to rent a studio.
Assessment Criteria
When completing your application, keep in mind the following criteria that ANCA uses when assessing studio applications; the potential benefits to both the applicant and the ANCA community; the applicant’s demonstrated commitment to a professional practice; studio location requirements; and whether the applicant has the capacity to pay rent.
